Statement Women, Statement Earrings

In 2020, Maddie and a friend, Maison, created a collection of hand-embroidered earrings called Statement Women / Statement Earrings. It was a celebration of the incredible women who inspire, challenge, and move us to action. They handpicked 15 women—icons like Dolly Parton, Malala Yousafzai, Joni Mitchell, and Sylvia Plath—to represent through each unique pair of earrings. It was their way of honoring the women who didn’t just make history, but who are history.

And here’s the thing: hero worship is often reserved for men, right? Think about it. When we talk about “great men” in history, the list is endless. But when it comes to women, their stories tend to get buried or pushed aside. It’s like there’s an invisible, higher bar for women to be considered “revered,” and they’ve got to break down a lot more doors to get there.

It’s not that there aren’t incredible men in history—there are plenty. But there’s something about the women who rise to the top that truly takes our breath away.

The Women Who Redefine Greatness

The Statement Women / Statement Earrings collection wasn’t just about creating pretty pieces—it was about honoring women who have defied expectations and used their voices and actions to make the world better. Women like Joni Mitchell, Lucille Ball, Angela Davis, Greta Thunberg, and so many others. These women didn’t just wait for permission to make an impact—they went out and took the space they deserved.

And here’s the thing: Women like this aren’t just “heroes” in the traditional sense. They’ve reshaped what it means to be great. They’ve made it clear that greatness isn’t about fitting into the box society builds for you—it’s about breaking the box wide open and creating a new standard.

The Statement Women / Statement Earrings collection first launched privately to a small group of supporters who had been with Maddie and Maison from the start. The response was incredible— selling all but 7. Those seven pairs then went to a gallery show at Blue Tile Gallery in Englewood, CO and sold out within one day.
